Woman chased across Europe by abusive ex-partner, who even followed her to Spain
A terrified woman claims she was forced to flee the country after being terrorized by an abusive ex-partner who hacked her phone and poisoned her food.
The rampant victim, who wants to remain anonymous, fled to a remote region of Spain and a desert region of Sweden in an attempt to escape the torment. But she claims that she can never banish anxiety and the alarming memories of her physical and mental torture.
She claims this is part of a widespread problem where men target vulnerable women – often meeting them through dating sites – using fear and intimidation to get money, HullLive reports.
Meeting the man at a party, he first appeared as a “nice guy”, but within weeks he had moved in with her and started to control her movements. When she managed to escape his domination, he even pursued her across Europe to continue the abuse.
The tearful victim said the man resorted to violence during the lockdown: “He didn’t want to leave my house and then he took over my life completely. He improved his game at Covid. I have scars on my skin. hands and arms, I have scars all over my lower spine – it was also violent. ”
Speaking of the long-term effects, she said: “There is no doubt that it was poisoning me – there is no doubt about it 100%. I was in so much pain that I was literally burning. I couldn’t even turn on the heat.
He even started hacking his phone and the internet, which meant that no applications were sent.
She said: “I couldn’t find a job because he was constantly hacking my phone – he literally didn’t want me to have a life.
“A lot of this abuse is done behind closed doors. He was diagnosed with a personality disorder and I didn’t know what I was getting any minute.”
Eventually, she flew to Spain from her home in Humberside and stayed in an isolated olive grove.
“It got to the point where I even felt I couldn’t trust my own parents when I left him. I was just guessing everything that is why I left the country. to recover, ”she said.
She says it was in Spain that she spent eight weeks “off-grid” before her insane ex-partner also showed up in the same part of the country.
The victim then traveled to Sweden “in the middle of nowhere in a national park” to get away from the perpetrator before returning to her home in the north of England.
“I came back and I have no closure. I left the country to recover and it was a million miles from everyone, then he flew to the same part as me.
“I lost my house, things like that happen, it’s not always a physical punch. It’s still there.”
She is now considering leaving her hometown “because of the memories, the association and the need to feel safe”.
The victim claims her partner is part of a larger group of men “targeting women for their money and property” – some using dating sites to operate.
She said, “It’s done very quietly, very, very quietly. It’s not just him, there’s a bunch of men doing this and I’m worried about the younger generation. Women have to do it. beware because at the end of the day these guys are after the money – definitely.
“When women call about the abuse and go to a police station, they can fire the partner, but sometimes there has to be a way for them to be safe. Many women are also silenced.
“It leaves a constant fight or flight in a woman, once you’ve been through something like that it’s a constant worry. I’m afraid my mom would go shopping alone, it created an element of anxiety. where I’m going to go into pure panic because of what happened to me, ”she said.
