Photography competition focuses on coastal images – Times-Standard
Photographers are invited to pay tribute to California’s coast and ocean by entering the 22nd Annual Ocean and Coastal Amateur Photography Competition. All entries must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on July 17.
Admission is free and open to all amateur photographers. Contest categories include: Scenic Coast and Pacific Ocean off California, People and Coast of California, and Ocean and Coastal California Wildlife.
The winners will choose from the following offered prizes:
• Four tickets for a whale watching cruise in San Diego and four tickets for a wildlife tour by kayak or paddleboard of Mission Bay
• two tickets for a whale watching cruise in Santa Barbara, two tickets for a kayak excursion in Morro Bay and two tickets for a wine tour
• Two tickets for a whale watching cruise at Moss Landing, a stand-up paddle lesson offered by 510 Waterline in Richmond and a double kayak adventure at Tomales Bay
• Two tickets to a whale watching cruise in Monterey, a stand-up paddle or kayak rental, courtesy of SeaTrek Sausalito, a kayak rental courtesy of Stacked Adventures in Alameda, and two stand-up paddle courses and rentals , courtesy of Mike’s Paddle in Alameda.
Plants and animals photographed must be native species in their natural environment. Photos must be taken from a public place. To avoid disturbance, photos of marine mammals should be taken at a distance of 50 meters or more. Visit www.MyCoastalPhoto.com for the contest rules.
The public is also invited to participate in this competition by becoming a judge. Online voting is open and must be completed by 5 p.m. on July 30.
