Oppo refreshed its Oppo Reno 5 series with the new Oppo Reno 5A, a few days before the launch of the next-gen Oppo Reno 6 series. The new Oppo smartphone features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G octa-core chipset designed to bring 5G connectivity to budget smartphones. The same Qualcomm processor is used to power OnePlus Nord, Vivo V20 Pro and Oppo Reno 5 5G vanilla. The Oppo Reno 5 looks like its brothers Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro, although its rear camera module adopts a black color finish instead of the same body color. The phone comes with a punched cutout for the unique selfie camera. Currently, it is available in Japan and pricing details remain unclear. Details of its global availability also remain to be revealed. In India, the price of the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G starts at Rs 35,990.

In terms of specs, the Oppo Reno sports a 6.5-inch Full-HD + LTPS display (1080 × 2400 pixels) with an aspect ratio of 20: 9, a screen-to-body ratio of 90% and an aspect ratio. 90Hz refresh rate. The display also supports up to 180Hz touch sampling rate and 405ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G octa-core SoC paired with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of on-board storage expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card. The device even supports USB OTG which allows users to transfer files to external storage directly from the phone. The Oppo Reno 5A’s quad rear camera setup includes a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and two 2-megapixel shooters. Up front there’s a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. Camera app comes with modes like night view, portrait, slow motion, time lapse, panorama, text scanner, microscope, etc.

Other notable features of the Oppo Reno 5A include 5G, 4G LTE, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS / A-GPS, NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, and rear mounted fingerprint sensor. It packs a 4000mAh battery that supports up to 18W of fast charging through a USB Type-C port. Oppo will launch the next generation of the Oppo Reno 6 series on May 27 in China.
