IPE Photographer of the Year Award Reveals Nominations

To mark the upcoming World Photography Day, Indian Photo Festival (IPF) in association with HMDA and CREDAl Hyderabad, has unveiled the nominations for the upcoming IPF Photographer of The Year Award.

All nominated photographs will be on display at the State Art Gallery, Madhapur from August 19 to September 19. In its first edition, the IPF selected 5 nominations each, in eight categories.

The final winners will be announced at a gala to be held in Hyderabad in September.

Sharing his view, Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD and Managing Director (NIUM) said that Hyderabad has marked itself on the world map when it comes to IT, infrastructure, entertainment, etc “But the city is so much more than that. Our rich heritage and culture showcased on distinguished international arts platforms such as the IPF and the IPF Photographer of The Year Award help us take Hyderabad beyond geographical boundaries. “, did he declare.

Mr Kumar said the state government is doing this on the occasion of ‘Swatantra Bharat Vajrotsavalu’ to showcase the best talent in photography.

These awards also give our local photographers the opportunity and exposure to see the work of people from all over the world. “We encourage people in Hyderabad and surrounding areas to take advantage of this opportunity and visit this unique month-long exhibition at the State Art Gallery,” the senior IAS officer said.

“Receiving applications from 85 countries for our first edition was an overwhelming response. The submissions were outstanding and posed a challenge to the jury to select the nominations as some of the submitted works were simply outstanding,” said Aquin Mathews, Founder and Director of Indian Photo Festival.

He said they were sure to increase these awards year by year to benefit the photography community. “Initiatives like these not only bring the community together, but also provide photographers with a broader platform and exposure while adding credibility and validation to their work,” Mathews said.

Entries were called in eight categories – Photojournalism, Documentary, Travel and Nature, Nature, Street, Portraiture, Wedding and Mobiles. Submissions were made by professional and non-professional photographers. The winning images and the winning photographers will have the opportunity to travel the world and promote their work.
